Brick Breaker

Today's course

Laying out today's three holes…

Fairway: one hit takes a divot of 5 cells
Rough: two hits, kicks the ball up to 15° off line
Bare earth: open
Trees: solid
Water: a shot flown into it, +1
Bunker: the ball plugs and drops straight back
Green: slopes to the cup

Tap to toss the ball, then drag to keep the rally going. Where the ball meets the putter sets its angle, and even dead centre sends it off at least 12° from straight. A stroke is a ball used. Desktop: the mouse, or arrow keys and Space.

How it plays

Three holes a day, the same for everyone, new at 00:00 UTC. Your first round counts; after it the same holes replay as practice.
A hole is a rally. The turf bounces the ball back as bricks do in a classic brick breaker. A fairway hit tears out a divot five cells big; rough breaks one cell at a time and takes two hits. Trees never break.
The fairway is the way. The rough is solid either side of it, and every bounce off rough kicks the ball off its line by up to 15°.
Bunkers cost the shot: the ball stops climbing and drops straight back toward the putter.
Strokes are balls used. A ball past the putter or in the water costs a stroke. Putter hits are free. The hole ends when the ball drops in the cup.
Water takes a shot that flies straight into it from the putter. A ball that has already bounced skims over.
No free rally. A ball off any point of the putter leaves at least 12° from straight.
Speed. Each new ball starts at the base speed and gets a little faster with every putter hit, up to a cap. Nothing on the course slows it.
The long drive is today's long fairway, which the ball cuts straight through: five putter hits, scored by the furthest point the ball reaches.
